Internationally renowned artistic director, show designer and stage director. He has notably collaborated with world-famous artists such as Shakira, Jean Paul Gaultier, Jean-Michel Jarre, Emeli Sandé, Arturo Brachetti, Typh Barrow, Alicia Keys and Katy Perry.

His education and career began in the worlds of Cinema, Advertising and Television, including the studios of the regional television channel of his hometown (Notélé). This extraordinary, multi-media creative mind brought from there an almost cinematic writing style: his shows are conceived as immersive experiences and 360° plunges into an oversized film set where actors, special effects, soundtracks, choreographies, acrobatic feats, stunts and pyrotechnics come to life.

Luc Petit has, among others, staged the Disney Cinema Parade in Paris, the opening ceremony of Eurofoot 2000 in Brussels, as well as the inauguration of the Altira Hotel in Macau in the presence of actor Chow Yun-fat, for the man who has called upon his talent for many years: Franco Dragone, notably famous for his creations for Cirque du Soleil, Céline Dion’s show in Las Vegas and The House of Dancing Water in Macau.

Among his creations, let us also highlight a sumptuous Indian wedding in Venice featuring guest stars Shakira and Gotan Project, as well as the show Discovery of a New World in Harbin, China, for Wanda Group. He also manages the casting of Story of a Fort Legacy of a Nation in Abu Dhabi.

He delivers projects for Nespresso, BNP Paribas Fortis, Proximus, Orange, Thalys and Besix. He designs two events for Amway China integrating video mapping, water fountains, large-scale magic acts and performances. In collaboration with Filmmaster Events, and under the artistic direction of Marco Balich, he imagines a show in Ukraine on a floating stage set in the middle of a lake. He subsequently organises for Telenet an incredible aquatic show featuring high-diving performers. Luc Petit also brings the mythical Cinecittà Studios back to life by presenting a Roman parade in the fabulous film sets and a dinner show featuring singers Emeli Sandé and Alicia Keys. In Lebanon and in Florence, he orchestrates grand receptions enhanced by the presence of Puff Daddy and Katy Perry.

Very active in Belgium, he conceives and produces the festivities of the opening ceremony of Mons 2015 – European Capital of Culture as well as a sound and light show in Bastogne as part of the commemorations of the 70th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge, for which he receives, together with Tempora, the Exceptional Event Trophy in Cannes. In June 2015, he stages Inferno, the opening show of the Bicentenary of the legendary Battle of Waterloo, an impressive production performed on a 170-metre-wide stage emerging in the middle of wheat fields and bringing together 300 re-enactors, around fifty horses and 250 artists.

At the EuBEA Festival 2015 in Seville, these Bicentenary events win 8 Awards including Best European Event, Best Cultural Event and Best Artistic Director. At the Hougoumont Farm, Luc Petit creates the scenography of a multimedia room and brings the battle between Napoleon and Wellington back to life through projections on three immense moving bas-reliefs.

With Michel Teheux, he creates the non-profit organisation Les Nocturnales, which develops heritage operas aimed at showcasing architectural jewels rooted in the collective memory. The tour Noël des Cathédrales and now Les Féeries de Beloeil are among the illustrations of his creative universe. In December 2019, the organisation produced the spectacular show Les Routes de la Liberté for the commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge. This production was awarded by the jury of the Bea World Festival 2020 with the Gold Elephant Award in the Education category and the Silver Elephant Award in the Best Cultural Event category.

Luc Petit has also created urban operas, such as the famous Décrocher la Lune, whose sixth edition won in Los Angeles the Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement – Live Event. He stages the underground video-mapping show Origin in the Caves of Han, as well as parades, including one dedicated to Jean Paul Gaultier in Montreal, under the artistic direction of Danielle Roy. Together, they managed for several years the artistic direction of the outdoor and street arts programme of the Just for Laughs Festival.

Luc Petit and his team also conceptualised a musical inspired by the story of Peter Pan, combining dance, singing, acrobatics, light effects and video: the largest video-mapping arena show, which continued its flight on a world tour and was acclaimed by several hundred thousand spectators in Europe, as well as in Dubai, Doha, Singapore and Taipei.

Accompanied by an international team, Luc Petit also designed and successfully produced a unique permanent show in Qingdao, China. Entitled the Qing Show, it is inspired by the Chinese folk legend of the Eight Immortals. This production was staged in a theatre specially custom-built for the show.

A true magician of the performing arts, Luc Petit brings together all disciplines and the most innovative technical resources to present, in each production, striking atmospheres always serving his personal and human artistic vision.

‘Illuminator of mystery, when he incorporates the sacred into his art, Luc Petit is not far from reaching for the moon.’

In recent years

Luc PETIT co-signed the scenography of the exhibition The Little Prince Among Men and staged The Folklore of Namur and Bastogne, as well as the outdoor shows: Little Red Riding Hood and Pinocchio in the sumptuous setting of Beloeil Park.

In August 2022, the Tournaisian director takes possession of the Château de Belœil Park, with the show “Pinocchio”. A revisit of Carlo Collodi’s famous tale, with more than 60 actors, 9 scenes, spread over more than a kilometre of route. A show of 40 performances for a total of more than 17,000 spectators.

In September 2022, director Luc Petit was rewarded for his work in highlighting the heritage by the Walloon Federal Government, which raised him to the title of Walloon Knight of Merit during the 2022 festivities of Wallonia.

The end of the year 2022 and the dawn of 2023 see once again by the tour of “Christmas of the Cathedrals”. This time, two shows are presented simultaneously: “Le combat des anges” and “Le Salier de Noël”. This tour passes through the cities of Lille, Brussels and Namur.

In March 2023, Luc Petit offered an unprecedented show in the city of Liège: “The Carnival of Animals”. With Luc Petit as director and comedian Bruno Coppens as screenwriter, this show shows a technical challenge: the suspension of a giant mirror allowing the reflection of images projected on the floor. This show brings together more than 20 dancers and 130 costumes as well as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Liège – co-producer of the show.

Luc Petit is recognised for his monumental shows combining contemporary creation, heritage and citizen participation, mobilising artists, volunteers and technical teams on a large scale.

Among his remarkable achievements is Le Jeu de Jean et Alice à Wavre, created on the occasion of the 800th anniversary of the Charter of Freedoms, bringing together more than 400 volunteers and artists around a monumental mapping on Place Cardinal Mercier. He also signs several major ambulatory productions at the Château de Beloeil, including Peter Pan in the summer of 2023 (23,000 spectators) and Le Tour du Monde en 80 Jours in 2024, which brought together 26,000 visitors in more than 70 performances.

To close the year 2024 and open the year 2025, he stages two creations played simultaneously: The Little Prince of Christmas, presented in Liège, Namur, Tournai and Arlon (54 performances), and The Celestial Combat, played in Huy and Ath (21 performances), confirming his ability to deploy several large-scale projects over the same period.

In the summer of 2025, Luc Petit will stage Alice in Wonderland at the Château de Beloeil, a large-scale show that welcomed more than 30,000 spectators.

During the following winter, his creations La Symphonie des Étoiles and L’Odyssée de Noël gathered 27,000 spectators through several Belgian cities, confirming his anchoring in major travelling winter productions.

His artistic universe also extends to spectacular creations such as The Night of the Dragons at the Château de Rixensart, The Secret of the Dragons in Tournai, Métal Sonore in Luxembourg as part of the Fête des Hauts Fourneaux, as well as the Animal Carnival, presented at the Cirque Royal de Bruxelles then at the Palais des Beaux-Arts de Charleroi and at the Maison de la Culture de Tournai.

In December 2024, Luc Petit played a central role in the direction of Texas Aggies: Into the Battlefield, a large-scale memorial show created for the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Ardennes. Presented at the Mardasson Memorial in Bastogne, this project required the coordination of hundreds of volunteers, artists and technicians, and was distinguished by its historical, scenographic and human requirement, inscribing the work of Luc Petit in a memory and international dimension.
